Fine Wines at the Drake

At The Drake, we believe that no wine should be purchased until tasted and we believe that good wine should be shared with friends. We have held to these beliefs while establishing our wine program. Wines can be purchased by the glass, the bottle, the case or by the truckload. For glass, bottle and case purchases, see your server. For truckload purchases, see Sam Jennison. We carefully select the vintners on this wine list. The vast majority of them are small - 20,000 cases or less annually. Vintners of this size put more tender loving care into their product and we believe it shows. Today's wines come from California, Oregon, South Africa, Australia and Germany. As we find additional wines worthy of your palate, we will present them. Should you not want to taste some wines, please accept our recommendation of ordering the house wines. These wines have been selected for their overall goodness and flavor. Enjoy.

House Wines - White

White ZinfandelMade from the Red Zinfandel grape, harvested and the skins removed early, in which results in a wine with lower alcohol content, with a crisp acidity and fruity taste. Produced for the Drake by the Sonoma Hill Winery. Enjoy with most any dish! $6$18
ChardonnayFrom the Sonoma Hill Winery, California. This wine has the crisp, clean taste of the Chardonnay grape, with touches of melon and figs, followed by a cream/buttery taste of the grape. It pairs well with chicken, fish and salads. $6$18
Black MuskatFrom the Shenandoah Valley of California. This is a delightful springy fruity wine that ends with a slight taste of Port. $10$30
Barberra Roasto A Rose Wine from the Barberra grape, this is a Italian flavored wine with lots of fruit, yet dry and easy. $10$30
ViognierViogner dates back to the Roman emperor.It was historically grown in the Northern Rhone Valley before being brought to California in the late 1980’s. Viogner has a distinctive aroma of white peaches, pears, violets, and a finish of violet honey. $10$30

BarberraFrom the Shenandoah Valley, California. This grape has Italian origins, making it a sturdy Tanner wine, Long form and body. $9$27
Vinho TintoFrom the Shenandoah Valley. Which has a Special Blend of three wines of Portugese fame. Some spiciness yet a bold, long lasting finish. $12$36
Drake PortThis wine is produced by the Bray Winery in the Shenandoah Valley of Eastern California. 20% alcohol with a smooth yet bold taste, worth sipping and enjoying after dinner and goes will with desert! It’s sure worthy of trying. $12$36
SyrahDeep colored wine, Rich in Tannin with taste of spice and black pepper. $12$36

Wilhelm Leinen Piesporter MichelsbergFrom the Mosel-Saar Ruwer, Spatlese quality. Third picking of the late grape. As the grape ripens on the vine, it takes on more form and body! $7$24
Studert Prum AusleseNearly the last picking of the ripened grape.This wine takes on the intense fruitiness of the late harvest Riesling grape. A great wine for desserts, salads and with afternoon tea. $15$45
Half Glass Half Bottle
Ernst-Bretz Eiswein Nectar of the Gods. The grape must be left on the vine until it freezes before the wine is made. A truly delightful experience! This is the ultimate with chocolate, ice cream and just sipping! $14$40

Mt. Billy reds come from old vines (80 years plus) in The Borossa Valley of Southern Australia.They produce robust, unique, full bodied, powerfully structured wines. The grapes are handpicked and basket pressed to maximize color and flavor profiles.

“Antiquity” ShirazDark aroma of violets, chocolate, coffee and new oak. Lively on the palate with a long finish. Great with meat and BBQ! $20$60
“Harmony”A blend of Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz grapes all of old vines. Dark inky core with a plum edge. Smell the Rockmelon floral of the Grenache and earthy spicyness of the Matora and Shiraz. A long plummy, gamey finish. $20$60
Liquer ShirazGrapes are grown in dense black clay. Ages 30 months in old oak barrels with the finest Badrossa Brandy spirit woven in to make this a dessert wine. Aroma of sweet blackberry and excellent balance of fruit and oak. Great with dried fruit, strong cheese, chocolate or a cold afternoon by the fire. $20$60
